FINN
Finn is a darling Border Collie and a perfect size. He’s approximately 40 lbs and doesn't look like he'll get much bigger. He’s neutered HW negative and up to date on all of his vaccinations. He's beautiful, smart and athletic. The right person will be very lucky to have Finn by their side.
At 11 months, he's an intelligent, sweet boy who is full of beans and needs lots of walks and active interaction. He’s very athletic (high jumper) and could make an excellent agility or frisbee dog. He loves playing fetch, frisbee (still working on returning and dropping) and adores his flirt pole which is a great way to get him tired out.
He’s good on the leash and usually crouches down in that adorable border collie way and wait for an oncoming dog to say Hi. If I need him to keep moving, he’ll do so with just a little encouragement. He loves to play with other dogs and will keep going until they want to stop. He loves to be outdoors when his foster is gardening and will stay occupied for hours finding sticks and entertaining himself but doesn’t want to be out for long by himself.
Once he’s had his exercise, he’ll lie quietly under my desk or outside the kitchen at mealtimes. He’s great in his crate with a snack and his toys. I’ve had him sleep in his crate at night which so far, he seems to prefer. He will need to be crated when you go out – he’s still a young boy and can get up to mischief if left untended. He’s still a chewer so he needs bones, toys etc. to keep him occupied.
Finn is also wonderful in the car. So far, his maximum rides have been about an hour, but he’s quiet and seems to enjoy watching the world go by or hang his head out of the window.
Requirements - Finn needs someone who is active and at home most of the time. He will NOT do well in a home where people are away at work all day. Ideally, he needs a six-foot-fenced yard. He’s a wonderful companion dog, going to need someone who will be firm and patient with him to direct his energy and continue with his training. He's uneven with his command of sit, stay and down, but he knows what each means.
He loves to hug - a real standing hug with his arms around the waist and head on the person's stomach. It's adorable and he gets a lot of positive responses from people, he just needs to be told No, when he’s not supposed to jump. His foster says if she wasn’t traveling so much Finn would be a keeper.
Finn is being fostered in Bethesda MD,, if you would like more information about Finn you can email mandkindle@gmail.com or fill out an application below.
