CHAMP
Champ is a very handsome, active and friendly lad. By all indications, he looks to be an Australian Shepherd or Aussie cross, 2 - 3 years old and is currently about 45 pounds. Overall, he is well behaved, nicely socialized, engaging, entertaining and wickedly smart; and, like most Aussies, he is spunky, affectionate and loyal.
Here are some other things you will like about Champ. He loves being with his humans but also enjoys the company of playful canines. He is very comfortable both indoors and outdoors. He loves toys and will often self-entertain. He is very food motivated, has good eye contact, is super smart and trains easily. He loves butt rubs, playing fetch, Frisbee and walks. He rides nicely in a car, walks nicely on a leash, and thrives on routine, moderate exercise and close human companionship.
Champ is responding beautifully to training while in foster care. He was quite the excitable wild child when he arrived...jumpy, mouthy, pushy. Through the use of a training program which focuses on changing behaviors through calm, positive leadership he has become a more relaxed, respectful and well behaved companion. He now keeps his "feet on the floor" (most of the time), has stopped mouthing, engages a beautiful off switch while hanging out with the family, is more chilled when meeting new people and walks nicely on a leash. He is still excitable when meeting new dogs; but, with a few minutes of managed introductions, he settles.
In addition to his behavioral achievements, Champ has also quickly mastered many of the basic commands as well as waiting for his food, waiting at doorways and sitting when cars pass by on walks. With his intelligence and willingness to learn, the sky's the limit on what this guy could do.
Here are some things we will be looking for in Champ's new home. No cats. A large fenced yard. Pet parents with above average doggie leadership skills, who can provide regular doses of exercise, (such as fetching), and who are willing to continue his schooling.
Champ is housebroken, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, utd on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention medications. Inquiries about Champ can be directed to lamblady.anne@gmail.com. If interested in adopting Champ please submit an adoption application below.
