CHAMP
Champ is a very handsome, active and friendly lad who is going to make a delightful one owner, or family, companion. His previous owner had an unfortunate accident and could no longer care for him; so, Champ is now looking for his new forever home. By all indications, Champ is likely an Australian Shepherd or Aussie cross. He is 3 - 4 years old and currently about 49 pounds (but on a diet to slim down to around 40). Overall, he is well behaved, nicely socialized, engaging, entertaining and smart.
Here are some things you will like about Champ. He is ALL about being with his humans - he is a glutton for attention. He also enjoys the company of other canines. He is very comfortable both indoors and outdoors. He loves toys and will often self-entertain when indoors. He is food motivated, has good eye contact, is smart and eager to learn - he is quickly mastering basic commands, waiting for his food and at doorways, and sitting when cars pass by on walks. He loves butt rubs, sitting on the coach, bugging his humans to play or pay attention to him, playing fetch and tug of war. He enjoys long walks and will make a great walking, jogging or hiking partner. He rides nicely in a car, enjoys golf cart rides, and thrives on routine, moderate exercise and close human companionship.
Here are some of the things you need to understand about Champ. He is an active boy who will do best if given regular doses of exercise such as fetching. He is very excitable around new people and can get jumpy; but, with good treats and praise, he is making great progress on learning to keep "fours on the floor". He is similarly enthusiastic about meeting new dogs and can initially be pushy (typical Aussie); but, with managed introductions, and a few minutes to get a read on new dogs, he progresses quickly to an appropriate level of interaction and play mode. He responds best to positive reinforcement training.
Here are some of the things we want for Champ's new home. Fun and active people who enjoy high doses of doggie companionship! A large, fenced yard for active play. Someone with the time and desire to continue his basic training and meet his needs for moderate exercise. Parents with good doggie leadership skills, who use positive reinforcement training, and who understand Aussie behavior. Another playful dog, if possible.
Champ is housebroken, neutered, microchipped, dewormed, utd on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention medications. Questions about Champ can be directed to lamblady.anne@gmail.com. If interested in adopting Champ please submit an adoption application below.
