JAX

Meet Jax! A 1 year old (Dec 5th) border collie puppy! The family purchased Jax to replace their elderly working dog, but unfortunately he is deaf in his white ear. They have worked with him but he struggles to localize sound and their field is near a busy road.
He has many typical bc behaviors, showing interest in cars but not a full chase or barking. He knows "out" "sit" "down" and recall but can't find the owners when far away. Many times in the pasture he runs the wrong way to find them. Goes back to the house etc. He can hear but doesn't know where dogs bark is coming from or sirens etc.
He lives with their other dog and son, but would say no young kids as he's a lot of energy and had resource guarding when younger. (He has an out now).He lives with chickens and outside cats without much issue, but stares at inside cat. He does not jump over our 4 ft fence. He is pure cattle line so he can show car chasing, cat staring type behaviors, but is friendly with dogs and cats and chickens.
Family has stated that if they were younger, without a pastured meat farm or kids they would do agility or something with him but they need off leash control etc there.

They personally think he would be great for someone who wants to spend time in a sport or training etc. that the family does not have the time to do with Jax.
They do not have to rehome him for any reason except the outlet they have for dogs is different than what he would be good at. They would like to see Jax go to a home that have more time for him. He is pure cattle line so he can show car chasing, cat staring type behaviors but is friendly with dogs and cats and chickens.
Jax is microchipped, up to date on shots, not yet neutered (will be adopted out with a neuter contract)

Jax is located in West Point VA. If you would like more information about Jax you can email chelstfrox@aol.com or fill out an application below.
